Breaking The Fourth Wall (2014)
Album Review
Its Dream Theater! Its Dream Theater...Live! Of Course its great. These guys are true wizards of music. No literally, Jordan Rudess looks like the wizard from Fantasia and wears the hat for extra proof. Also, pick up their previous three disc Live album "Live at La Luna Park." This is great for DT fans and those just getting into them, ~ Metal Club Member - iTunes
I hate that I don't like their Orchestral attempts!!! When I first heard that Dream Theater was doing a live album with an orchestra I couldn't wait. When Metallica did their S&M album I felt it was amazing, every song took on a whole new life and the orchestrations complimented the songs perfectly, however, all I could think was how awesome it would be for DT to do the same thing. Score was a let down. IMO the orchestra did nothing but double the keyboard parts and sat so far back in the mix that I could barely tell when they were playing and when Jordan Rudess was. I had hoped that this may be different, but I feel the same. The orchestra is still doubling parts rather than introducing something new to the song. I am not sure who may have arranged their parts but sadly as much as I love the songs and the band I feel the mix of the two changed nothing. Be adventurous...Metallica and Yanni allowed their music to be transformed into something new and fresh because of the introduction of the orchestra...allow that to happen with your music and I think the marriage of DT and an Orchestra will be complete. ~ Hurricane tenor - iTunes
Best ever. The is the best dream theater concert release in history. The mix is perfect and the set list and performances are beyond amazing. ~ peter venkman - iTunes
